State-run ferries depart from 3 locations for Vashon Island; West Seattle (Fauntleroy), Southworth (near Port Orchard) and Point Defiance (Tacoma). There is also a high-speed passenger ferry that runs from Vashon Island directly to downtown Seattle. The North End Vashon ferry dock is a 10 minute drive from this home. King County Transit operates buses up and down the island daily as well as to downtown Seattle. Numerous hiking trails are walking distance from the house. There are miles and miles of more hiking trails and parks a few minutes drive away that are managed by King County, usable year-round. High speed, fiber-optic cabled wifi is available at the home.
